CLAIRE HOUSE & JAMES HOUSE

AIM

Create a landmark mixed-use riverside property that improves the gateway to the town, enhancing activity on the riverside and bringing in footfall.

The existing Claire House & James House in 2018.

PROGRESS

Outline planning has been granted for a new landmark building which includes:-

  • 35 residential units including affordable homes
  • A ground floor café and community space
  • Improved car parking
  • The first phase of the Riverside Park

For full details please view the application via the Mole Valley District Council Planning Application Portal www.molevalley.gov.uk/planningsearch››  using reference MO/2018/1983

This was subsequently varied (MO/2021/0690) to remove the requirement to provide temporary car parking on the disused tennis courts at the Leatherhead Leisure Centre site and to accommodate contractor car parking in Randalls Road car park).

A new specialist developer has been identified for Claire House and James House after the previously appointed developer was unable to fulfil its commitment to the project. A full in-depth review of all options for the site was carried out, which led to the revised choice of developer, now approved by the MVDC Cabinet.

The process of due diligence will now start, and further details will follow in due course once the legal process is complete.
