Create a landmark mixed-use riverside property that improves the gateway to the town, enhancing activity on the riverside and bringing in footfall.

In June 2019,  outline planning consent was granted for a landmark building to be created on the site to replace the old office blocks. The plan included proposals for:

  • a café and riverside community space on the ground floor 
  • 35 much-needed homes including affordable units
  • improvements to the car park
  • the first phase of the Riverside Park
  • car parking accommodated at the rear

The application to allow the provision of 64 temporary parking spaces at the former tennis courts near the Leisure Centre during the construction period (MO/2019/0222) was also approved.
