Remodel the Swan Centre so that it better meets the needs of the community and re-establishes the town as a destination for shopping, food and leisure.

SHORT-TERM WORKS

As we developed the master plan we have implemented a number of short term works to support our asset management of the centre 

Completed works:

  • New toilets with a dedicated baby changing facility
  • More user-friendly car park with improved ramps and wider spaces
  • Electric vehicle charging points
  • Passenger and goods lift replacement 
  • A rebranded website at www.theswancentre.co.uk

LONG-TERM WORKS

Retail experts Cushman and Wakefield have developed a Masterplan for the long-term development of the Swan Centre. The proposals aim to make Leatherhead a local destination that serves the needs of the community night and day.

The proposed mix of uses identified in the Master Plan includes:

  • Convenience shopping
  • Smaller more affordable units for start-up and scale-up businesses
  • A better leisure offer including a small cinema, hotel and food outlets
  • Flexible workspaces
  • Open, improved market and event spaces
  • Approx. 50 residential units
  • More car parking (approx. 100 more spaces)
  • Rooftop vineyard or garden

NEXT STEPS

SHORT-TERM WORKS

  • Installing fresh signage and introducing pop up units.
  • New payment machines in the car park allowing contactless and pay-on-exit payment

LONG-TERM WORKS

We are now procuring a partner to redevelop the Swan Centre in line with the masterplan.
